Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2025 dated 22.07.2025 for the recruitment of various UT Cadre posts in the Home Department. A total of 61 vacancies are open across different roles including Assistant Scientific Officer, Assistant Superintendent Jail, Computer Assistant, and Laboratory Attendant.
As per the official notification, the maximum age limit for general category candidates is 40 years, while reserved category candidates are eligible up to 43 years. Selection for most of the posts will be made on the basis of merit obtained in the written/OMR-based examination. However, for the Assistant Superintendent Jail post, candidates must also qualify a Physical Standard Test.
Eligible and interested candidates can apply online through the official portal of JKSSB at www.jkssb.nic.in from 04 August 2025. The last date to submit online applications is 02 September 2025. Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility conditions regarding education, age, and domicile status before applying.

Eligibility Criteria:
Below are the eligibility conditions and qualification details for each post as mentioned in the official notification. Candidates must ensure they fulfill these criteria before applying.
For Assistant Scientific Officer (Chemistry and Toxicology), the candidate must have a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or Forensic Science with at least 50% marks from a university recognized by UGC. For Assistant Scientific Officer (Documents), a Master’s in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Forensic Science is required with a minimum of 50% marks.
For the Assistant Scientific Officer (Crime Scene) post, the candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Forensic Science from a recognized university.
The Assistant Superintendent Jail post requires Graduation from a recognized university with a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Criminology. Additionally, candidates must meet physical standards: males must be at least 5’6″ in height and chest 32-33.5″, while females must be at least 5’2″.
For Computer Assistant, the required qualification is a one-year diploma in Computer Applications or B.Sc. IT/BCA or a three-year diploma in Computer Applications from an AICTE-recognized institution.
For Laboratory Attendant, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Science stream and studied either Maths or Biology from a recognized Board.

Selection Process:
The selection of candidates for most posts will be done on the basis of merit obtained in a written/OMR examination. The Assistant Superintendent Jail post also involves qualifying a Physical Standard Test. No oral test or interview will be conducted for the posts of Assistant Scientific Officer and Assistant Superintendent Jail.
