
Srinagar, Feb 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners United Front (JKPUF) has welcomed the Government Order No. 182-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated February 11, 2026, whereby the Administrative Secretary, Finance Department, has been nominated as the Union Territory Level Nodal Officer for coordination with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in connection with the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission.
In a statement issued today, JKPUF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani lauded the Government of J&K for taking this timely and significant administrative step. He described the nomination as a “progressive and reassuring measure” that reflects the Government’s seriousness towards addressing the genuine concerns of employees and pensioners of the Union Territory.
Wani expressed appreciation to the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister, the Finance Department, and all concerned stakeholders for ensuring institutional coordination at the highest level. He stated that the move will streamline communication between the Union Territory and the Government of India, thereby facilitating effective and smooth implementation of the 8th Pay Commission recommendations.
The JKPUF Chairman further announced that the organization will shortly submit a detailed memorandum to the designated Nodal Officer, highlighting key issues and expectations of serving employees and pensioners. These include protection of pensionary benefits, timely revision of pensions, removal of anomalies, enhancement of medical allowances, and safeguarding post-retirement social security measures. “Employees and pensioners form the backbone of governance and public service delivery. We are hopeful and confident that their long-pending issues will receive due attention under the framework of the 8th Pay Commission,” Wani said.
