
Jammu, Mar 18: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), led by working president Raman Bhalla, held a meeting with State Election Commissioner (SEC) Shantmanu on Wednesday. They sought early elections to Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation included chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former minister Yogesh Sawhney, former legislators Ved Mahajan and Balbir Singh, and president DCC Jammu Rural Neeraj Kundan.
JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said the delegation discussed concerns related to Panchayats and Municipal bodies with the SEC on PCC president Tariq Hameed Karra’s instructions. They focused on free and fair elections, voter list revision, delimitation, and reservations for SC, ST, women, and OBCs.
“The delegation gave inputs and sought to know the ongoing efforts for transparent elections. We stressed the need for associating all political parties,” Sharma said. The delegation assured full cooperation and preparedness for elections.
Raman Bhalla described the meeting as fruitful for early and smooth elections to PRIs in Jammu and Kashmir.
