JKNC Confirms Agha Mehmood’s Candidacy for Budgam Segment By-poll – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) has officially announced Agha Mehmood as its candidate for the upcoming Budgam Assembly by-election.

As learnt, the decision was finalised after an internal meeting held recently, during which differences reportedly emerged over the candidature. While Omar Abdullah, is learnt to have favoured former Apni Party leader Muntazir Mohiuddin for the seat, party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on the other hand insisted on fielding a Shia candidate from the constituency.

Following the disagreement, Omar Abdullah even reportedly walked out of the meeting.

Meanwhile, Muntazir Mohiuddin, who had earlier expressed support for Omar Abdullah in the 2024 Assembly elections, is now expected to contest the Budgam seat as an Independent candidate.
