Srinagar, Jul 14: In a significant development, the Power Development Department (PDD) of Jammu and Kashmir has issued long-awaited regularisation orders for a large number of power engineers, marking a historic milestone for the department and its workforce. The move has been met with jubilation by the Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA), which has been consistently advocating for this demand.
Highlighting the importance of the development, Er. Pirzada Hidayatullah, President of JKEEGA, said that the issue of regularisation had been pending for decades. It was only through the sustained and strenuous efforts of the administrative wing of the JKPDD that this longstanding demand has finally been addressed. He noted that, for the first time in the department’s history, a serving Chief Engineer will now be holding office as a confirmed Chief Engineer—an unprecedented moment for JKPDD.
JKEEGA expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, the Chief Secretary, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, and in particular, the Principal Secretary, Power, for their decisive role in bringing the matter to a successful conclusion. The association termed the regularisation as “nothing less than a milestone” in the history of JKPDD.
The association also voiced hope that all other pending proposals would now be expedited, enabling the clearance of backlogs and further boosting the morale of engineers within the department. According to JKEEGA, this move will go a long way in motivating engineers to deliver their services with renewed zeal and commitment.
JKEEGA also acknowledged the role of the media fraternity in consistently raising the concerns and issues of power engineers, which helped ensure that the matter reached the higher corridors of power at critical times. A special mention was made of the Principal Secretary, Power, whose proactive role was instrumental in achieving this outcome.
