Kupwara: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee has expressed serious concern over the continued delay in the release of salaries and wages of thousands of scheme workers across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, JKECC District President Zahoor Ahmad Wani said that AAYAs, National Health Mission employees, Cook cum Helpers working under the Mid Day Meal scheme, and Casual Paid Workers have not been paid for several months, causing severe financial hardship to them and their families.
He said these workers play a critical role in the delivery of essential public services and have continued to discharge their duties despite prolonged uncertainty over their wages. The delay in salary disbursement, he added, reflects poorly on administrative priorities and has pushed many families into distress.
Wani further said that non payment of honorarium to Cook cum Helpers has begun to affect the smooth functioning of the Mid Day Meal scheme in schools, indirectly impacting students and teachers alike.
The JKECC urged the government and concerned departments to release all pending dues without further delay and to put in place a transparent and time bound mechanism to ensure regular payment in the future. The committee expressed solidarity with all affected workers.
He cautioned that if the issue remains unresolved, the JKECC would be left with no option but to escalate its agitation in support of the employees.
