Srinagar, Jul 9: As part of the selection process for the upcoming senior T20 cricket team for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 (SMAT), the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Wednesday released a list of 28 players shortlisted for the fitness camp, following the conclusion of the trial matches held in Srinagar.
The list as per the JKCA features a mix of seasoned campaigners and emerging talent from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Among the notable names in the list were Auqib Nabi, Shubham Khajuria, Qamran Iqbal, Vivrant Sharma, Abdul Samad, and express pacer Umran Malik, all of whom have been key figures in JKCA’s recent campaigns.
Other prominent inclusions are Yudhvir Singh, Mujtaba Yusuf, and Dikshant Kundal, who impressed during the trials. The shortlisted players, as per the JKCA, are now set to undergo fitness assessments as the next step in the team selection process. Notably, a few players in the list have been marked for red-ball format only. The camp also includes promising young talents like Musaif Aijaz, Kawalpreet Singh, and Irfan ul Haq.
Pertinently, more than 190 players had registered for the senior T20 trials, which were held to assess talent and current form ahead of upcoming domestic assignments. The trial matches witnessed strong performances from several emerging and experienced cricketers, making the selection process a competitive affair.
A JKCA official said the final squad for the T20 season will be picked based on both match performance and fitness levels demonstrated during the camp.
