Srinagar, Aug 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Friday marked the 79th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar.
The event was attended by Mithun Manhas, former cricketer and current Director of Cricket Operations for the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), alongside the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) Incharge Srinagar, Majid Dar.
As per a statement, several former cricketers, JKCA members, officials, and staff were also part of the celebrations. The national flag was unfurled amid the singing of the national anthem, followed by a brief address highlighting the role of sports.
Speaking on the occasion, JKCA representatives lauded the contributions of former players to the game in J&K and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting cricket at the grassroots. The gathering concluded with the distribution of sweets and an informal interaction among players and officials.
