Srinagar, Jul 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has granted conditional permission to the Red Premier League (RPL) Season 2 to allow participation of it’s registered players in the cricket tournament.
Organised by Red FM, the tournament is scheduled to be held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.
A senior JKCA official, speaking to Greater Kashmir, clarified that the association has not provided blanket recognition to the event but allowed participation of its ’registered players under specific guidelines.
“We have granted recognition only for senior and under-23 categories, provided players are free from JKCA’s official commitments such as camps or tournaments. Players under the U-19 category and below are strictly barred from participating,” the official said.
The official explained that the league is being organised by a corporate entity, and after proper scrutiny, JKCA decided to allow its senior registered players to participate in the event.
“Red FM is a known company. When a corporate house approaches us formally and there are no financial irregularity concerns with everything accessible with regard to the tournament event, we generally have no objection. Their request was primarily to allow registered players to participate,” the official added.
According to JKCA, the players’ participation will remain subject to official schedules. “If our camps or matches are on, those players cannot participate in the league. JKCA’s activities will remain the first priority,” the official said.
As per the reports, the organisers of the Red Premier League have also been asked to follow specific timelines.
The JKCA on Thursday issued an official notice confirming the decision. The letter states that while registered players (seniors and U-23) are permitted under the stated conditions, those from U-19 and below age groups are not allowed to feature in the RPL.
“Red Premier League Season 2, being held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, has been given recognition by JKCA. All the players registered with JKCA except those included in JKCA teams (Seniors & U-23) for the 2025-26 season are permitted to participate in RPL. Players of U-19 and below age groups with JKCA are NOT permitted to play in the said league,” reads the notice.
