JK to Host First National Tourism Secretaries’ Conference

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir will host the National Conference of Tourism Secretaries for the first time on July 7 and 8, 2025, at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

The two-day event is being organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism and will be attended by Tourism Secretaries and Heads from all States and Union Territories. The Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, the Union Home Secretary, and the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, are scheduled to attend.

The conference will cover policy discussions on the tourism sector, including the 2025–26 budget announcements, infrastructure projects, sanctioned scheme reviews, investment opportunities, promotional activities, and film tourism.

A session focusing exclusively on Union Territories will be held on July 8, with participation expected from senior officials, including the Union Home Secretary.

In view of the conference, Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Yasha Mudgal, reviewed arrangements at the venue. She was accompanied by the Director of Tourism Kashmir and the Director of SKICC, who provided updates on logistics, hospitality, and security plans.

Speaking at the review, the Commissioner Secretary said Jammu and Kashmir is prepared to host tourism officials from across the country. She said necessary coordination is in place to manage the event and added that the conference provides a platform to present tourism developments in Jammu and Kashmir in line with national policies.

The conference will also facilitate inter-state dialogue and official-level interaction on tourism-related planning and implementation. Delegates will visit locations in Srinagar during the event.
