Jammu | Srinagar : Chief Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, on Wednesday flagged off the contingent of artists representing the Jammu & Kashmir Tableau for the Republic Day Parade 2026 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. The ceremony was held at K. L. Saigal Hall, Jammu.

The event was attended by Principal Secretary, Culture Department, Brij Mohan Sharma; Secretary, JKAACL, Harvinder Kour; Additional Secretaries Sonali Arun Gupta and Lal Chand; along with other senior officers of JKAACL.

The Jammu & Kashmir Tableau will showcase the Union Territory’s rich handicrafts and folk traditions, including Pashmina weaving, walnut wood carving, carpet weaving, papier-mâché, copperware, and Basohli miniature paintings.

The tableau opens with a grand engraved Samovar symbolising Kashmiri hospitality and moves through traditional wooden architecture and houseboat imagery. The Dogra Chhajja performance on a village Thadda reflects local life, while folk dances such as Rouf, Kud, Jagarna, Pahari, Gojri, and Dumhal add movement. The presentation concludes with colourful papier-mâché artefacts, highlighting Jammu & Kashmir as a living canvas of art and tradition.

The flag-off ceremony marked a moment of pride as the artists prepared to present the Union Territory’s cultural heritage on the national stage.
