The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, has released Advertisement Notice No. 01 of 2025 inviting online applications for the post of Ombudsperson under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. These posts are available across various districts of the Jammu and Kashmir division.

As per the notification, a total of 13 Ombudsperson positions will be filled through this recruitment. The engagement will be purely on a tenure basis and not a regular government appointment. Candidates must possess a strong background in public service, law, academics, or social work and should be physically fit to undertake field duties in remote rural areas.

Vacancy Details:
The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj has invited applications to fill 13 Ombudsperson posts under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. The vacancies are spread across the following districts:
Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Samba, Ganderbal, and Srinagar.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must be domiciles of the UT of J&K. Applicants retired from government service must have last held a post not below the rank of Additional Secretary or equivalent. They must have at least 10 years of experience in Public Administration, Law, Academics, Social Work, or Management, with mandatory experience in working with people or community organizations.

Applicants must not be members of any recognized political party or banned organization. Physical fitness to travel to remote locations and conduct field inspections is also a mandatory requirement. Preference will be given to residents of the same or neighbouring district. The maximum age for engagement is 68 years.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply through the official website of the department at www.jkpanchayat.jk.gov.in starting from 26 June 2025. Applications must be submitted online within 11 days from the opening date.

Selection Process:
The selection will be made without a written examination. A UT-level Selection Committee will conduct interviews and apply an internal marking system to rank candidates. A panel of selected candidates will be published on the department’s website. In case of vacancy, the next person in the panel will be appointed.
