
Srinagar, Feb 7: National Conference Provincial President Kashmir, Showkat Mir Saturday praised the 2026–27 Annual Budget presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as forward-thinking.
In a statement, Mir congratulated Omar Abdullah for presenting a pro poor, pro farmer budget inspite of the economic challenges being faced by the government.
Mir particularly commended the social welfare measures like free education, six annual LPG cylinders for AAY families, and investments in infrastructure, services and reforms for balanced regional development.
“On agriculture, he expressed gratitude to Hon’ble CM Omar Abdullah on announcing crop insurance scheme thereby realising a long pending demand of growers and agriculturists. Mir called the budget visionary, welfare and investments oriented, advancing J&K toward stability, progress, and prosperity,” said the press release. While endorsing it, Mir urged the Union government to promptly restore promised statehood to J&K.
