Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Friday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2017, for its implementation as an Act henceforth.
Moving the Bill for consideration and passage, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the amendment seeks to bring greater clarity, efficiency, and compliance in the taxation system. He emphasized that the changes are intended to align and streamline J&K’s GST framework with evolving national tax standards while addressing local economic considerations.
The Chief Minister further said the revised provisions would simplify tax procedures for businesses and enhance revenue transparency. “This amendment reflects our government’s commitment to modernizing financial administration and ensuring a more business-friendly environment in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The Bill was taken up for discussion and subsequently passed by the House.
