Jammu Srinagar NHW Traffic Update 19 Aug.
TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From: 17-08-2025, 1600 hrs. to 18-08-2025, 1600 hrs. Jammu-Srinagar NHW remained blocked 02 hrs. 40 mins due to landslides/shooting stones at several places. Slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 04 HMVs, single lane traffic at Dalwas, poor surface condition between Nashri and Banihal.
In view of inclement weather prediction issued by MeT Deptt. a long spell of rainfall in next few days. People are advised not to travel on Jammu-Srinagar NHW without confirmation from TCU Srinagar/Jammu and also the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page.
HMVs Operators/Owners are advised to desist from overloading on Jammu-Srinagar NHW as it is not only dangerous but also damages the road. Traffic authorities have already launched a drive against the HMVs/Load carriers applying during night hours and there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides due to rainfall on NHW.

Goods carrier (HMVs/Load carriers) carrying fresh perishable live stocks are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time in order to facilitate unhindered movement of such vehicles on NHW.

HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that while carrying goods double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Muggers’ operation on Jammu-Srinagar NHW shall be allowed only by through Drar road.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal due to shooting stones/landslide shooting stone area.

NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. HMVs upto Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for road condition. Commuters are requested to check NH 44 status at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page.
Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag NH-244:
In view of the weather forecast and prevailing inclement weather conditions, vehicular movement shall remain closed on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road as per advisory issued by SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDM/KNG/25-26/1847-53 dated 18-08-2025.
Srinagar – Sonamarg – Gumri Road:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, (after getting green signal from the BRO) only one way traffic shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road.
LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Sonamarg at 0500 hrs. to 1000 hrs. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1100 hrs. to 1500 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains during journey. SFs Convoy, if any, shall be allowed from Srinagar to Kargil and vice versa shall be given movement in such a manner that one Civil Traffic (both UP and DOWN) does not get disturbed.
Mughal Road:
Mughal road is closed due to landslides/shooting stones at several places. Vehicular movement shall be allowed after getting green signal from Traffic Police.
ADVISORY:
People are advised not to undertake journey amid adverse weather conditions without confirmation from TCU.
