
SRINAGAR: A worker who sustained permanent disability while working at the Kwar Hydroelectric Power Project in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir has been awarded compensation of Rs 19.92 lakh following sustained intervention by the Labour Department.
Bhanu Pratap Singh, son of Mukesh Kumar and a resident of Palmar, was employed as a labourer at the project when he suffered injuries that left him permanently disabled.
The compensation amount, deposited by Patel Engineering Ltd, was credited to the bank account of the Assistant Labour Commissioner.
The cheque, amounting to Rs 19,92,330 (Nineteen lakh ninety-two thousand three hundred thirty rupees), was formally handed over to Bhanu Pratap Singh by Assistant Labour Commissioner Mamta Sudershan.
Officials said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring timely financial relief and justice for workers affected by workplace accidents at major project sites.
