SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department participated in the leading annual global tourism trade fair, FITUR, held at IFEMA, Madrid, from January 21 to 25, 2026.

The JK delegation was led by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, and included Joint Director Tourism Kashmir Waseem Raja and Joint Director Tourism Jammu Ajaz Kaiser Malik. Several tour operators from the region also attended the event.

A key highlight of JK’s presentation was the introduction of Virtual Reality (VR) technology, allowing visitors to experience the Union Territory’s landscapes through immersive videos. The department also showcased traditional arts and crafts, including Paper Maché, Basholi paintings, and wicker willow items. Kashmiri Kehwa proved popular among foreign visitors, and the aesthetically designed stall received praise from officials, visitors, and representatives from the Indian Ministry of Tourism and Indian Embassy in Spain.

The JK Tourism stall was inaugurated on January 21 by Advisor Wani, with senior officials from the Indian Embassy in Spain, Ministry of Tourism, and leading tour operators in attendance. On January 22, the department hosted a high tea for international tour operators and media, which was attended by the Ambassador of India in Spain and the Advisor to the Chief Minister.

During the five-day event, the Advisor also held meetings with prominent tour operators and media representatives to promote Jammu and Kashmir tourism globally. He attended a high-profile tourism promotion meeting hosted by the Indian Embassy in Spain on January 23.

The FITUR event concluded on January 25, 2026, marking a significant global showcase for Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism, culture, and heritage.
