Official sources said that the joint teams of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off several forested and hilly areas of the district, including stretches along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, after receiving intelligence regarding the possible presence of militants.

The operation, which began early in the morning, involves thorough searches of dense forest patches and adjoining villages. Road movement in some adjoining areas was also regulated as a precautionary measure to ensure civilian safety.

Security officials said the operation is part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts aimed at preventing infiltration and ensuring peace in the region. However, no contact has been established with any militants so far.

The searches were continuing when reports last came in. [KNT]
