
SRINAGAR: A Sub-Inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police sustained injuries after being assaulted by a group of miscreants near Bakshi Nagar Police Station in Jammu late on Sunday evening, according to a Daily Excelsior report.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm when Sub-Inspector Nitin Khajuria, posted at Bakshi Nagar Police Station, was on his way home on a Royal Enfield motorcycle, officials said. He was allegedly intercepted by six to seven persons travelling in a Thar vehicle bearing registration number JK02DR-6351 after a dispute over a mobile phone, Daily Excelsior reported.
The attackers reportedly struck the officer with sharp-edged weapons, locally referred to as tokas, injuring his head and legs, and also allegedly threatened him with a pistol. Bystanders rushed the injured SI to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, where doctors said his condition was stable and he was out of danger.
While undergoing treatment, the officer identified two of the alleged assailants as Munna D, a known history-sheeter of the district, and Rishab alias Kaua. The identities of four to five other attackers are yet to be ascertained.
Police have registered FIR No. 158/2025 at Bakshi Nagar Police Station under the relevant sections of law and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend all those involved in the attack.
