SRINAGAR: A 25-year-old student from Jammu and Kashmir was found dead under unexplained circumstances at a paying guest accommodation in Vadodara’s Fatehgunj area, prompting concern among residents and students in the neighbourhood, reports appearing in the media said.
According to details available with the police, the student, Gatik Ajaykumar Das, had been staying at Sky Home PG located behind the Blue Lagoon Hotel. On the night of November 14, he went to watch a late movie with friends and returned to his room at about 1.30 am. Police said he fell asleep soon after. When he did not wake up throughout the following day, the PG administrator eventually contacted the 108 emergency service.
The medical team that arrived at the PG examined the student and informed the staff that he had died. Once the alert was passed on, officers from Fatehgunj police station reached the spot and shifted the body to Sayaji Hospital for post-mortem.
Police officials said the deceased was a second-year MBA student at Parul University. As the cause of death is unclear, officers said the police have initiated formal inquiries and are awaiting the post-mortem report before determining whether the case involves natural causes, suicide or any other possibility.
Friends of the student and residents of the area expressed shock over the incident, while the police said further investigation was underway.
