SRINAGAR: An avalanche occurred near New Truck Yard in Sonamarg at approximately 10:15 pm on Tuesday. No casualties or damage to property have been reported.

Police teams, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), promptly reached the site to assess the situation. Concerned agencies are monitoring the area, with precautionary measures in place to ensure public safety.

Ganderbal Police have advised the public, tourists, and transporters to avoid visiting or halting in avalanche-prone areas, warning that the risk of further avalanches remains high. Authorities emphasised that unnecessary movement in vulnerable zones could pose serious risks.

Officials urged people to follow advisories, cooperate with local authorities, and prioritise safety while travelling through the Sonamarg corridor and surrounding areas. The JK Police reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and requested everyone to remain alert and responsible.
