SRINAGAR: The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has filed a charge sheet against 12 individuals, including four former revenue officials, in connection with the alleged illegal acquisition of nearly three acres of land belonging to Auqaf Islamia, officials said, as per Daily Excelsior.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime, Benam Tosh, confirmed that the case, originally registered in 2013, was filed under multiple sections of the Ranbir Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The charge sheet has been submitted to the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu, for judicial proceedings.
The accused include former Tehsildar Daljeet Singh, former Naib-Tehsildar Som Dutt, former Girdawar Ram Saran, and former Patwari Abdul Fani. Officials noted that Saran and Fani have passed away, while another accused, Abdul Sattar, is also deceased.
The case followed a written complaint from the Administrator of Auqaf Islamia Jammu, alleging that the accused conspired to cheat, forge documents, and fraudulently seize 26 kanals of land in Chatha Gujran village. Investigators said sufficient documentary and other evidence confirmed the offences, prompting the filing of the challan.
