SRINAGAR: Police in Jammu Kashmir’s Doda district have registered an FIR against a serving police officer for alleged assault and unlawful restraint, asserting that no individual within the force is above the law.

According to an official statement, a written complaint was filed on December 3, 2025 at Police Post DH Doda by Anzar Majid Malik, alleging that Ghulam Ali, son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar and a resident of Sadeeqabad, Doda, had wrongfully restrained and assaulted him.

Acting on the complaint, Police Station Doda registered FIR No. 272/2025 under relevant sections of law and initiated an investigation. During the probe, the accused was identified as an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Police Department.

Doda Police said the case is being pursued in line with the department’s zero-tolerance approach to misconduct, and further investigation is underway. (KNC)
