SRINAGAR: A hotel in the Nagrota area of Jammu and Kashmir was sealed on Saturday following allegations of illegal activities on its premises, with several persons, including two couples, detained, according to Daily Excelsior report.
Officials told Daily Excelsior that acting on specific inputs, a police team, accompanied by an executive magistrate, conducted a raid at a hotel in Ban village. The hotel, located in a residential area, was allegedly being used to provide accommodation to young couples, leading to inconvenience to local residents and raising concerns over public morality.
An officer said the situation had resulted in public resentment and posed a potential threat to peace and tranquillity in the area.
During the raid, two young couples were found to have booked rooms at the hotel. They, along with hotel staff, were detained for questioning, the official said.
To prevent the continuation of the alleged unlawful activities and to maintain public order, the executive magistrate ordered the sealing of the hotel.
Preventive action under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been initiated against the hotel owner, manager and all the detained individuals, officials added.
