
SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has promoted 24 Inspectors of the General Cadre to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), granting them Level 8 pay scale (Rs 47,600–1,51,100) in the Pay Matrix with immediate effect.
According to Government Order No. 222-Home of 2026 dated April 13, 2026, issued by the Home Department, the promotions have been approved following recommendations from the JK Public Service Commission, inputs from the Criminal Investigation Department, and vigilance clearance from the Police Headquarters.
The officers promoted include Riyaz Mustafa, Mir Zahid Hussain, Arif Ahmad Ahangar, Ashwani Kumar Angotra, Nasir Syed Kirmani, Tahir Ahmed Qazi, Iftikhar Ahmed Mir, Ramesh Kumar Pandita, Raj Kumar Dhar, Sunil Kumar Ganjoo, Javid Akhtar, Ajay Bhat, Arun Kotwal, Vijay Kotwal, Mohd Arif, Shabir Ahmad, Kulbir Singh, Manzoor Hussain, Chaman Lal, Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Jagjiven Ram, Naveen Angral and Som Raj.
The order specifies that the promotions are subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts of law, if applicable.
The decision has been issued with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor and formally signed by Principal Secretary to the Government, Chandraker Bharti (IAS).
