
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government sanctioned a host of state awards across bravery, literature, performing arts, crafts, public service, sports and media on the occasion of Republic Day 2026, according to a government order.
The order by the General Administration Department lists awards in several categories, carrying cash prizes and citations. The highest cash award in the bravery category was conferred posthumously on Adil Hussain Shah of Pahalgam, who has been granted a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and a citation; a police sub-inspector, Nikhil Kumar, received a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a citation.
Literature honours include Yashpaul Nirmal, Hassan Parwaz, Parwaiz Manoos, the late Fayaz Dilbar, Kewal Krishan Sharma and Rattan Lal Sharma, each to receive a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a citation. In performing arts, recipients named in the order include singer Tanya Dev Gupta, actor Anil Tickoo, actor director Ayash Arif, rabab player Abdul Hamid Bhat and several others.
Awards for excellence in arts and crafts were announced for artisans such as Sajjad Husain Bhat, Mohammad Shafi Bhat and Razia Mushtaq. The order also recognises social reform and empowerment work, naming Arhan Bagati, founder of KYARI, among the awardees.
The public service category includes Dr V S Senthil Kumar, chief conservator of forests, and senior administrative officers including Tariq Ganai and Rohit Sharma. A lifetime achievement award was announced posthumously for Mohammad Shafi Pandit. Sports honours feature athletes such as Aquib Nabi Dar and Brijesh Sharma, while the media category lists journalists and editors including Avtar Krishan Bhat, Vivek Suri and Syed Khalid Hussain.
An award for outstanding industrial entrepreneurship was conferred on Mohammad Niyaz-ul-Kabir of GR8 Sports, among others. The order states that the standard cash prize for most categories is Rs 51,000 along with a citation.
