SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has conducted 47,411 Health Melas at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs since April 2024, according to new data tabled in the Lok Sabha on Friday. The Union Health Ministry said the large-scale outreach is part of the Ayushman Bhav campaign aimed at expanding access to specialist services and promoting community-level health awareness.

Across the country, more than 28.69 lakh Health Melas have been organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs between April 1, 2024 and November 30, 2025, registering a footfall of over 15.71 crore. In the same period, 43,345 Ayushman Arogya Shivir events were held at Community Health Centres, with a total attendance of 1.78 crore people. States such as Karnataka (3.59 lakh), Chhattisgarh (3.34 lakh), Andhra Pradesh (2.72 lakh) and Uttar Pradesh (2.96 lakh) reported the highest number of Health Melas.

The Union Government said States and Union Territories receive support under the National Health Mission to organise Health Melas and strengthen healthcare systems based on their proposals. Weekly Ayushman Melas initiated in 2023 were institutionalised as monthly fixed-day outreach events in 2024–25, enabling improved community participation and access to services ranging from gynaecology and paediatrics to psychiatry and dermatology. Wellness activities including nutrition, hygiene and menstrual hygiene have also been prioritised.

The Ministry also highlighted the nationwide “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” held between September 17 and October 2, 2025, during which over 19 lakh health camps were organised across the country, drawing nearly 11 crore citizens.
