
SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded Jammu and Kashmir’s growing prominence as a sports hub while highlighting India’s recent achievements in international cricket.
Speaking during the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said March had been an exciting period for sports enthusiasts, especially cricket fans, following India’s historic victory in the T20 World Cup. He said the triumph had brought immense pride and joy to the entire nation.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister said the region has always demonstrated deep enthusiasm for sports and is now steadily emerging as a destination for major sporting events.
He noted that Gulmarg has already earned recognition through the successful hosting of the Khelo India Winter Games, while football continues to gain popularity among the youth.
Expressing optimism, the Prime Minister said he hopes Jammu and Kashmir will continue its winning momentum in sports and further strengthen its position on the national sporting landscape.
