Jal Shakti Department Promotes 23 JEs to Assistant Engineers

SRINAGAR: To strengthen the human resource capacity and improve water supply management across Jammu and Kashmir, the Jal Shakti Department has promoted 23 Junior Engineers to the rank of Assistant Engineer.

The promotions were issued under Government Order No. 167-JK (JSD) of 2025 dated July 7, 2025, by Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti, Shaleen Kabra.

Welcoming the development, Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana congratulated the promoted engineers and expressed confidence that their elevation would enhance departmental efficiency and boost morale. “These promotions will further motivate officers to contribute actively towards the department’s mission of ensuring clean and reliable water supply across the Union Territory,” the Minister said.

Minister Rana also directed departmental authorities to immediately refer all accrued vacancies to the recruiting agency for fast-track recruitment to fill critical posts in a timely manner.

The Jal Shakti Department has recently undertaken several steps to restructure its workforce, including the promotion of officers from Assistant Engineers to Chief Engineers. The Minister further stressed the need to institutionalise a robust performance monitoring mechanism at every level to ensure accountability and efficiency within the department.

The promotions are expected to bring a renewed focus on operational excellence, particularly in water resource management, infrastructure development, and public service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.
