ISAP India Foundation organises buyer-seller meet at Jammu to promote local products

Srinagar, Jan 20: A buyer-seller meet was organised by the ISAP India Foundation under the HDFC Parivartan Program P0748 at Kisan Ghar, Conference Hall, Fruits and Vegetables Market, Narwal, Jammu to promote local products. The event aimed to promote the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative and boost local trade.

Over 60 farmers from our FPCs Sangaldan and Banihal (Ramban district), Bhaderwah (Doda district), 20 buyers including Surinder Singh, president F&Vs Association Jammu and government line department officials including Ayaz Ahmad Natnoo, Deputy Director Horti Planning and Marketing; Tehseen Iqbal Chib, Area Marketing Officer, Ramban, J&K; Tarun Gupta Area Head Digital Solutions Sales- Jammu, Government and Institutional Business (GIB) and Abhishek Nargota, Area Head Government and Institutional Business (GIB) participated in the meet.

From ISAP India Foundation, Tahir Nazir- State Head, J&K; Rahat Ashraf – Team Lead, Jammu; Kush Mehndiratta, Project Manager; Haziq Shabir, Marketing Expert; Irfan Javaid, Agri expert; Masroor Ahmad Malik, District Coordinator, Ramban; Ubaid Ayaz, district coordinator, Doda and Junaid Ayaz, district coordinator, Kishtwar and Asrat Ashraf, LRP, Ramban represented in the meet.

The meet showcased the rich diversity of agricultural products from Jammu and Kashmir, including the Kishtwari saffron, Kala honey, Bhaderwahi Rajmash, Bhaderwahi rice, Anardana, Bahidana, walnuts, almonds, Shilajit, Knol Khol pickle and Masoor Dal.

Farmers and producers from various districts actively participated, presenting high-quality produce from the Chenab Valley region.

Addressing the gathering, Ayaz Ahmad Natnoo, highlighted the importance of collective marketing through FPCs. He assured support to the farming community through government initiatives like Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project in Jammu and Kashmir (JKCIP) and Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) for empowering farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and rural youth.

HDFC Bank representatives reaffirmed their commitment to positivity toward sustainable livelihood initiatives.

Buyers present in the meeting expressed strong interest in local produce and emphasized the need for quality control, proper sorting, and grading.

Majority of them showed interest in signing MoUs and agreements with the FPCs to establish long-term market linkages.
