
Srinagar, Mar 2: The Iranian government has announced that it would permit Indian nationals to leave the country through land borders, and that arrangements for the safe passage of Indians, including students, was being made in collaboration with the Government of Indian.
Quoting Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran Saeid Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, the wire agency IANS reported, ìIran had undertaken all the necessary arrangements for the evacuation of Indian students in coordination with the Indian government.î
Motlagh said that he had recived a update that Iranian government had made arrangements for Indian students wherein they do not require any permission to leave the country.
Indian nationals could approach any land land border and exit Iran.
ìThey can exit through land borders with countries like Afghanistan and Turkmenistan,î he said.
These countries have been assigned for leaving the country and there are no pre-requisites for passing the check-posts.
ìThey only require to carry their passports in hand and can leave the country,î he said.
Meanwhile, some Kashmiri students in Iran, whose videos were shared over social media, said the university was facilitating the buses for the studentsí exit.
The students said they were in touch with Indian Embassy and hoping that the universities and embassy officials would make plans for taking students to borders from where they could leave the country.
As per the studentsí accounts, situation in Tehran remained ìtenseî and the intense bombs, missiles, and the situation after assassination of Iranís Supreme Leader Syed Ali Khamenei had made even sleeping difficult for the students.
Moreover, the communication disruption in Iran has kept their families back home on tenterhooks.
The brewing situation in Iran and Gulf has resulted in suspension of air traffic and added to the difficulties of Indian nationals, the number of whom runs in hundreds of thousands in Gulf countries.
