The Intelligence Bureau (Ministry of Home Affairs), Government of India, has issued a detailed notification inviting applications from Indian citizens for the post of Security Assistant/Executive (SA/Exe). A total of 4987 vacancies are available across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux in India.
As per the official advertisement, applicants must be between 18 and 27 years of age as of 17.08.2025. Relaxation in age is available as per government rules. Selected candidates will receive a salary under Pay Level 3 (₹21700-69100), along with Central Government allowances and a 20% Special Security Allowance. The selection will be done through a three-tier examination process including written tests and an interview.

This recruitment drive aims to fill 4987 vacancies for the post of Security Assistant/Executive (SA/Exe) in various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIB) across the country. These include major cities and regions such as Delhi (1124), Trivandrum (334), Chennai (285), Kolkata (280), Mumbai (266), Ahmedabad (307), and several others. Each SIB requires candidates with knowledge of the local language/dialect as listed in the official notification.
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must have passed Matriculation (10th class) or equivalent from a recognized board. They must possess a domicile certificate of the concerned state/UT they are applying for. In addition, candidates must have knowledge of at least one of the local languages or dialects mentioned in the notification for each respective SIB. Field experience in intelligence work is desirable.
The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 17.08.2025. Age relaxation is applicable up to 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, up to 40 years for eligible departmental candidates, and up to 35/38/40 years for eligible women applicants. Ex-servicemen and sportspersons also get relaxation as per government rules.

The application fee for the recruitment process is structured according to categories: All candidates must pay ₹550 as recruitment processing charges. Male candidates belonging to UR, EWS, and OBC categories must pay an additional ₹100 as examination fee, totaling ₹650.
Selection Process:
The selection of candidates will be on the basis of a three-tier examination process. Tier-I will be an online objective exam with questions from General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, English Language, and General Studies. It carries 100 marks with negative marking. Tier-II is a descriptive translation test worth 50 marks. Tier-III is an interview/personality test, also carrying 50 marks. Final selection will be based on combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-III.
