Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that the influx of drugs to Jammu and Kashmir was part of an international conspiracy to jeopardise J&K youth’s future.

Chairing a high-level meeting to review the preparedness for the upcoming 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, LG Sinha said

“The influx of drugs to J&K is part of a larger international conspiracy to jeopardise the future of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Every section of the society must join this fight against drug menace.”

He directed for continuous and intensive drives to dismantle drug trafficking networks.

‘Don’t touch the innocent and don’t spare the culprit’ is our policy. We must identify the real victims of drug abuse and make committed efforts for their rehabilitation,” the LG said.

He emphasised on mass public participation of students and youth, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, volunteers, civil society organisations, political parties, public representatives and the general public to maximise outreach and awareness.

The LG directed to make the campaign a Jan Andolan with active participation of people. He also called for integration of public suggestions along with the feedback mechanism to make this campaign more impactful.

“Common public should also be encouraged to report the drug abuse cases,” LG Sinha said.

The 100-day campaign, aimed at eradicating drug abuse from J&K, would be marked by a series of high-impact awareness programmes.  The LG would flag off a mega ‘Padyatra’ from M A Stadium, Jammu, on April 11, 2026, followed by a similar large-scale launch in Srinagar during the first week of May.

The high-level meeting discussed the series of activities planned and department-wise activity calendar prepared for the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.  J&K and divisional level committees have already been constituted for effective implementation of the IEC campaign and action plan.

The meeting was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; S J M Gillani, Special DG (Coordination); Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Home; Mandeep K Bhandari, Principal Secretary to LG; Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; V K Birdi, IGP Kashmir; DIGs, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and other senior officials.
