SRINAGAR: An IndiGo flight travelling from Kolkata to Srinagar was forced to make an emergency landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, after a suspected fuel leak was detected mid-flight, news agency IANS reported.

The aircraft, operating as flight number 6961, landed safely at around 4:10 p.m. following clearance from air traffic control. All 166 passengers and crew members were evacuated without injury.

LBSI Airport Director Puneet Gupta told The Times of India that the pilot took precautionary measures and diverted the aircraft to Varanasi upon detecting the issue. “The flight landed safely, and the situation was handled efficiently,” he said.

Authorities confirmed that the situation is now under control, with normal airport operations having resumed. IndiGo has initiated an internal technical inspection, and officials said necessary action is being taken to determine the cause of the leak.
