
Jammu, Dec 17: As a part of a larger national initiative to transform campus post offices, fostering a vibrant hub for communication and logistics within educational institutions, an initiative towards modernising postal services and connecting with the younger generation, the Department of Posts revamped AIIMS Vijaypur sub office as ‘Gen Z’ post office on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Notably, AIIMS (Vijaypur) Jammu is the first AIIMS across India to be upgraded to a ‘Gen Z’ post office, marking a significant milestone both for India Post as well as AIIMS Vijaypur.
The Gen Z Post Office was dedicated by Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu, and D S V R Murthy, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu and Kashmir Circle, in presence of Shah Nawaz Khan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Postal Division.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from postal and AIIMS (Vijaypur) Jammu, staff members, and students of AIIMS (Vijaypur) Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries emphasised that the initiative reflected the Department of Posts’ commitment to transforming traditional post offices into vibrant service hubs aligned with the aspirations of young citizens.
The ‘Gen Z’ post office has been conceptualized to cater specifically to the needs and expectations of ‘Generation Z’ by offering customer-friendly, technology-driven, and innovative postal services.
The office features a modern ambience, digital payment options, simplified service delivery, and enhanced access to postal, banking, insurance, and e-commerce services under one roof.
On inaugural day a special cancellation has been provided to the AIIMS Post office (Vijaypur) Jammu to commemorate it for being first ‘Gen Z’ post office of Jammu and Kashmir Circle.
All outgoing mails booked from AIIMS Vijaypur post office were impressed with this special cancellation.
The ‘Gen Z’ Post Office aims to promote awareness about postal savings schemes, digital banking through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), and other value-added services among students, healthcare professionals, and the general public associated with AIIMS (Vijaypur) Jammu.
“This initiative marks another milestone in India Post’s journey towards innovation, inclusivity, and customer-centric service delivery,” a spokesperson of Jammu Postal Division said.
