JAMMU, March 7: Former Minister and National Conference Additional General Secretary Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today called for imbibing the teachings of Sant Ravidasji to build a harmonious and just society based on equality, compassion and mutual respect.
Addressing a congregation in connection with the 649th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Ravidasji organized by Guru Ravidas Satsang Society Karwanda headed by Sh Parshotam Kumar and his team in Jammu North Assembly Constituency, Mr Sadhotra said the life and message of the revered saint continue to inspire humanity to strive for a social order founded on justice, brotherhood and dignity for all.
He said the teachings of Sant Ravidasji hold great relevance in contemporary times when society needs to reaffirm the values of love, compassion and harmony. Guru Ravidasji devoted his life to spreading the message of equality and social justice. His teachings remind us that all human beings are equal and deserve respect and dignity, he said.
Highlighting the spiritual and social philosophy of the saint, he said Sant Ravidasji advocated a society free from discrimination and prejudice, where people live together in peace and mutual understanding. The message of Guru Ravidasji transcends barriers of caste, creed and religion. His vision was of a just and equitable social order where everyone enjoys equal opportunities, he added.
Mr Sadhotra said that the ideals preached by the saint are particularly significant in the present times when societies across the world are striving to strengthen harmony and coexistence.
“By following the path shown by Guru Ravidasji, we can strengthen unity and promote a culture of tolerance and compassion,” he said.
Mr Sadhotra urged people, especially the younger generation, to draw inspiration from the teachings of Sant Ravidasji and incorporate them into their daily lives.
Referring to the growing need for social cohesion, Mr Sadhotra said that the teachings of great saints and reformers serve as a moral compass for building an inclusive society. These values help create an environment where peace and understanding prevail, he said.
He also appreciated the efforts of organisers in holding the anniversary celebrations and bringing people together to reflect on the message of the revered saint.
On the occasion, Shri Shri 108 Swami Gurdip Giri Ji Maharaj also addressed the gathering and highlighted the teachings of Sant Ravidasji. He said the saint’s philosophy emphasises devotion, humility and service to humanity, which continue to guide millions of followers across the country.
Guru Giri Ji urged devotees to follow the path of truth and righteousness shown by Sant Ravidas and work collectively for the welfare and upliftment of society.
The other speakers also highlighted the importance of strengthening social unity and promoting the values of brotherhood and compassion as advocated by the saint.
The congregation paid rich tributes to Sant Ravidas Ji and prayed for peace, harmony, prosperity, equality and justice to all in the society.

Mr Sadhotra congratulated and appreciated the efforts of Parshotam Kumar and his team for organizing such a big show. He also thanked Swami Gurdip Giri Ji Maharaj for giving spiritual discourse and for sparing his valuable time and coming from Pathankot for this function.
