SRINAGAR: On the 26th Foundation Day of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Iltija Mufti reaffirmed the party’s core stand on Jammu and Kashmir’s political future.
“Our fight is not just for statehood; it’s for the special status, the constitution, and the flag of Jammu and Kashmir,” she asserted, emphasising that the PDP has maintained this position since the events of August 5, 2019.
Iltija expressed gratitude to party workers, particularly those from South and North Kashmir, who turned out in large numbers to show their support.
She highlighted that the PDP emerged during one of the most challenging phases in J&K’s history and continues to be relevant in today’s challenging times.
“This day reminds us of the vision Mufti Sahab and Mehbooba Ji had of peace with dignity and a healing touch for our people. That vision is more important now than ever,” she added.
In a subtle message to other political parties, she said, “When you talk only about statehood, you dilute the real issue. I appeal to all parties, including Congress and NC, to stand together for the restoration of J&K’s special status.”
Reflecting on the Party’s 26 years, Iltija said the PDP gave people hope. “Our agenda is still relevant today and we talked about peace with dignity.”
She further said, “War is never an answer, it is only dialogue, reconciliation, and talks.”
