IIG Research Scholar Recruitment 2026 For 26 Posts, Apply Online Before 30 April

Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) has released an official notification inviting online applications for Research Scholar posts under the Doctoral Programme. A total of 26 vacancies have been announced for candidates interested in research in Geomagnetism and Allied Fields.

The Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The institute provides advanced research facilities in Solid Earth, Space Weather, Upper Atmospheric Physics, and Space Plasma Physics.

Selection Process of IIG Research Scholar Recruitment 2026

Selection will be conducted through the following stages:

Stage 1 — Screening of Applications

Stage 2 — Entrance Examination (for candidates without GATE/NET/INSPIRE qualification)

Stage 3 — Personal Interview

Candidates possessing valid GATE, NET, or INSPIRE (JRF) qualification may be called directly for interview.

Place of Research Work

Selected candidates will conduct research at one of the following locations:

• IIG Headquarters — Navi Mumbai
• EGRL — Tirunelveli
• KSKGRL — Prayagraj
• NEGRL — Shillong
• Magnetic Observatories of IIG

Candidates may be assigned to any of the above locations based on requirement.

Travel Allowance Details

Outstation candidates appearing for interview will be reimbursed Second Class train fare by the shortest route, subject to submission of valid confirmed or RAC ticket copy, as per institute rules.
