SRINAGAR: International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah on Saturday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for their historic Ranji Trophy victory, praising their grit and perseverance.

In a post on X, Shah said the players fully deserved the acclaim for their achievement, while also recognising the efforts of the coaching staff, team management, and cricket administrators from JK who contributed behind the scenes.

He expressed hope that the triumph would inspire current and future generations in the region to take up the sport, adding that cricket is full of such stories of inspiration worldwide and this achievement would earn its deserved admiration.

Jammu and Kashmir made history on Saturday by defeating eight-time champions Karnataka in a drawn final, winning their first-ever Ranji Trophy thanks to a commanding first-innings lead—a landmark moment for cricket in the Union Territory.
