
Kupwara, Dec 15: A residential house was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire incident in the Nachiyan area of the border town of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, leaving a family homeless and causing substantial losses.
Officials and locals said the fire broke out suddenly at the house of Ameer Deen Bokan, son of Raj Mohammad Bokan, a resident of Nachiyan, and rapidly engulfed the entire structure. All household belongings, including furniture, ration supplies, clothing and other essential items, were completely destroyed.
Residents rushed to the spot and made efforts to douse the flames while authorities were informed. However, by the time help arrived, the house had already been completely damaged.
No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.
The affected family and residents have appealed to the district administration to provide immediate relief and assistance, including temporary shelter.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case in connection with the incident, and the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
