House collapses during condolence meet in Bandipora, several injured

Bandipora, Jan 28: Several people were injured on Wednesday after a double-storey residential house collapsed during a condolence meet in the Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Officials said that the house suddenly collapsed as a large number of people had assembled to offer condolences on the demise of a former Fire and Emergency Services employee, Gh. Mohammad Dar, in Chandergir village, who passed away yesterday due to illness.

Officials confirmed that several people sustained injuries in the incident.

The injured were identified as Sara Begum, wife of Mohd Maqbool Dar, resident of Chandergir; Afroza Begum, wife of Bilal Ahmad, resident of Asham; Meema Begum; Bilkisa Begum, resident of Putermollah, Ganderbal; Raja Begum; and Haleema Begum.
