Home Minister speaks to LG, CM; assures support

Jammu, Aug 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Sunday spoke to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding the cloudburst in Kathua and assured all possible assistance from the Centre.

The Union Home Minister asserted that relief and rescue operations were being carried out by the local administration, and National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) teams were also rushed to the site.

Seven people died and 11 others were injured in two separate incidents of cloudburst and landslide in Kathua district’s Jodh Ghati village in Rajbagh and Bagra village in Janglote on Sunday morning.

“Spoke with the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the cloudburst in Kathua. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the local administration, and NDRF teams have also been rushed to the site. Assured of every support from the Modi government. We stand firmly behind our sisters and brothers of J&K,” the Home Minister posted on ‘X’.

Both the LG and the CM briefed the Home Minister about the updated status vis-à-vis the situation in Kathua.
