Jammu, Jul 7: Steady increase in influx of pilgrims, undertaking Yatra from Jammu, continued as the largest ever batch of 8605 departed from Yatri Niwas-Jammu based camp at Bhagwati Nagar for holy shrine of Shri Amarnathji in South Kashmir Himalayas on Monday.
As per officials, the fresh batch i.e., sixth batch, comprising a total of 6486 males, 1826 females, 42 children, 216 Sadhus and 35 Sadhvis left in a convoy of 372 vehicles, including 179 buses and 112 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) to undertake Yatra from twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal under layered security.
A total of 3486 pilgrims, including 2497 males, 878 females, 23 children, 64 Sadhus and 24 Sadhvis opted to embark on Yatra from Baltal axis. They left in a cavalcade of 166 vehicles, including 73 buses and 66 LMVs at 3.28 am. 5119 Yatris, comprising 3489 males, 948 females, 19 children, 152 Sadhus and 11 Sadhvis chose the Pahalgam route. They left Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 4.22 am in a cavalcade of 206 vehicles, including 106 buses and 46 LMVs. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of 5892 pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar base camp on July 2, 2025 morning. Yatra finally commenced on July 3 from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
On July 6, fifth batch of 7208 pilgrims; on July 5, fourth batch of 6979 pilgrims; on July 4, the third batch of 6411 pilgrims and on July 3, the 2nd batch of 5246 pilgrims left Jammu for Kashmir to undertake holy pilgrimage.
Today i.e., July 7, a total of 23857 pilgrims, including 17257 males; 5297 females; 341 children; 296 Sadhus; 9 transgenders and 625 security forces’ personnel had Darshan at the holy shrine. Yatra will conclude on August 9, 2025. Meanwhile, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) range Shiv Kumar on July 6 conducted security review and checking of lodgement centres, Langar facilities for Shri Amarnath ji Yatris In Jammu. DIG JKS Range took stock of facilities at Aggarwal Sabha Lodgement Centre at Vivekanand chowk; Hari Niwas Yatri Bhawan, Raghunath Bazar; TRC Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu; Laxmi Narayan Mandir Gandhi Nagar; Ram Mandir Purani Mandi Jammu and Bhagwati Nagar Base camp.
During assessment of operational preparedness, he also interacted with pilgrims. Security personnel and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) were briefed about their responsibility and were directed to remain extra vigilant during the ongoing Amarnath Ji Yatra.DIG JKS range during his interaction with yatris also got their feedback and made them aware about various Police help desks and Yatra JPCR and Helpline numbers.
