High Court Issues Circular to Prevent Delays Caused by Incomplete Case Numbering | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has directed its registry officials to ensure that Main Case numbers, Interlocutory Application (IA) numbers and Caveat numbers are properly filled in judicial files to prevent inconvenience during court proceedings.

In a circular issued by the office of the Registrar General at Jammu, the High Court said it has been noticed that several matters listed before the Hon’ble Courts are missing Main Case numbers, IA numbers or Caveat numbers in the designated spaces on judicial files after registration.

The circular said such omissions have been causing considerable inconvenience during court proceedings while dealing with cases.

To address the issue, the High Court has instructed registry officials of both wings to ensure that immediately after registration of matters, the relevant numbers are properly entered in the designated columns of the files.

The circular stated that Caveat numbers, IA numbers and other case details filed by the parties must be duly filled wherever such columns are found blank.

It further directed that the relevant year along with the number must also be clearly indicated to ensure that no difficulty arises while the courts are hearing the cases.

The directions have been issued to remove what the court described as an “aforesaid bottleneck” and to streamline the handling of judicial files.

The circular, issued by Registrar General MK Sharma on March 6, has been circulated among judicial and registry officials of the High Court.

Copies of the circular have also been forwarded to key functionaries including the Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, the Registrar Vigilance, Registrar Computers, Registrar Rules, the Registrar Judicials of both wings, and the Central Project Coordinator for information and necessary action.

The directions have also been sent to the Incharge Library of the High Court wings at Jammu and Srinagar for record purposes.

Officials said the step is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and ensuring smoother handling of matters listed before the High Court. [KNT]
