Handwara, July 21: Continuing its drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, Handwara Police has carried out a special drive across different areas of the police district and seized 06 tractors and 03 Dumpers, used in the extraction and transportation of minerals without legal permission, officials said.
In a statement issued to the Greater Kashmir, an official said, “Acting on specific inputs and in strict compliance with environmental and mining regulations, teams from various police units launched coordinated inspections and checks. The seized vehicles were found operating in violation of mining norms and without valid documentation.”
He said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation way underway to identify and take action against those involved in the illegal trade.
Handwara Police remains committed to protecting natural resources and urges the general public to report any instances of illegal mining or mineral transportation to the nearest police station. Strict action under law shall be taken against violators, he added.
