Minister for Agriculture, Javid Ahmad Dar, replying on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to a question raised by legislator Rameshwar Singh, said the proposal is under consideration as part of efforts to expand tourism infrastructure.

Responding to a supplementary query, the Minister stated that the government is committed to strengthening tourism infrastructure across the Jammu division. He said rest houses and tourist huts would be established at key destinations to improve visitor facilities and promote sustainable tourism.

Dar also informed the House that a Winter Carnival was organised at Bani on February 8, 2026 under the direction of the Chief Minister as part of a broader initiative to promote tourism in the region. The event, he said, was aimed at showcasing the natural beauty, cultural heritage and tourism potential of the area.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Minister said efforts are underway to explore and develop new tourist destinations to boost the local economy, create employment opportunities and further position Jammu and Kashmir as a premier travel destination.
