Govt Appoints Three Law Officers for High Court’s Srinagar Wing | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday appointed three advocates as Law Officers in the Srinagar wing of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to Government Order No. 3957-JK (LD) of 2026 dated March 28, Shabaz Sikandar Mir has been appointed as Additional Advocate General, while Tariq Ahmad Lone and GN Sofi have been appointed as Deputy Advocate Generals.

The order, issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, states that the appointments will be governed by existing rules and conditions laid down in previous government orders issued in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

It further specifies that the tenure of the appointed Law Officers will be one year, extendable based on satisfactory performance. The appointments are also subject to the production of eligibility documents as prescribed under Notification SRO 98 of 2016.

Additionally, the order states that the appointments will remain subject to any directions issued in the ongoing Public Interest Litigation titled Sushil Chandel vs Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and others.

As per administrative guidelines, the appointed Law Officers have been directed to submit case-related information on a daily basis through the Director Litigation Kashmir, along with fortnightly and weekly reports to the Law Department in prescribed formats.
