SRINAGAR: A delegation from Google met with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressing commitment to supporting the Union Territory’s digital transformation through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology-enabled empowerment, according to an official spokesperson.
The delegation comprised Ashish Wattal, Country Director; Sanjay Dewan, Head of State Government Affairs; and Pankaj Shukla, Head of Technology and AI at Google Cloud.
Calling the interaction constructive, the Google team conveyed a strong interest in partnering with the Jammu and Kashmir government on transformative projects in education, healthcare, tourism, entrepreneurship, and skill development. The aim, they said, is to co-create impactful and scalable AI solutions tailored to the region’s unique needs.
The executives highlighted that applying AI in sectors like education and health could drive significant improvements in public services and quality of life. They also stressed the importance of equipping local startups with access to advanced AI platforms, enabling innovation from within the region and providing young tech talent in JK with valuable exposure to deep tech tools and opportunities to build AI-powered solutions.
