Girl Rescued After Jumping Into Jhelum in Sopore; Search On For Missing Fisherman – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: A girl was rescued on time, even as a fisherman continues to remain elusive from the sight of rescuers, in two separate incidents of varied nature in Jhelum river in Sopore on Sunday.

News agency GNS quoted officials as saying that a 65-year-old fisherman, Ali Mohammad Dar, a resident of Muslim Peer Sopore, drowned after his boat overturned in the river.

Soon after the incident, a joint team of SDRF and police reached the spot and launched a rescue operation to trace him.

While the search was in progress, a girl in the same area jumped into the river. The rescue team present nearby acted quickly and managed to pull her out alive.

The girl is safe, while the search operation to trace the missing fisherman was still continuing till last reports came in.
