GATE 2026 Registration Starts 25 August, Exam In February By IIT Guwahati

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati will be conducting the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. The official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in has been launched, and the registration process will begin on 25 August 2025. Candidates can apply without a late fee until 25 September 2025.

GATE 2026 will be held on 7, 8, 14, and 15 February 2026. The results will be declared on 19 March 2026. This national-level examination evaluates candidates’ understanding in undergraduate-level subjects for admission to Master’s, Doctoral programmes, and recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings.

As per the eligibility criteria, candidates studying in the third year or higher of their degree or those who have completed degrees in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from recognised institutions can apply. Those with equivalent certifications approved by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC, and candidates from foreign institutions meeting the criteria, are also eligible.

The registration process for GATE 2026 starts on 25 August 2025 and ends on 25 September 2025 for regular applications. The extended application period with a late fee will close on 6 October 2025. The exam dates are 7, 8, 14, and 15 February 2026, and the results will be announced on 19 March 2026.

The examination fee for Female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates is ₹1,000 per paper during the regular period and ₹1,500 during the extended period. For all other candidates, the fee is ₹2,000 during the regular period and ₹2,500 during the extended period.

GATE scores can be used for admission to Master’s and Doctoral programmes in various fields in institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other Government agencies. Financial assistance is available, with M.Tech students receiving ₹12,400 per month for 22 months, and Direct PhD candidates receiving ₹37,000 per month for the first two years and ₹42,000 per month for the next three years.
